Getting started with me

Do I need to know anything about WordPress to work with you?

Nope. Not one single thing.

You don't need to know what a plugin is, what a dashboard looks like, or why your website is doing whatever alarming thing it's currently doing. That's my job, not yours. You're the expert in your business. I'm the WordPress person on your team, and I'll meet you exactly where you're at.

There's no such thing as a silly question here. If you've ever felt small for asking something tech-related, you won't feel that with me. Zero judgement, always.

I've had a bad experience with a web developer before. How is this different?

I hear this more than you'd think, and honestly, it makes me a bit cranky on your behalf.

Being talked down to, left in the dark, or paying good money and still not understanding what you got: none of that is okay, and none of that is how I work. You'll always be in control of your own website. I'll explain things in plain English, I won't disappear, and I promise you'll come out the other side knowing more than you did going in.

Think of me as the WordPress person who's actually on your side. Because I am.

I'm not sure where to start. What do I do first?

Book the free 15-minute chat. Genuinely, that's it.

You don't need a brief, the right words, or your thoughts in order. Just turn up and tell me what's going on with your site, even if that's just "something's wrong and I don't know what." We'll work out the best starting point together. That's my job, not something you need to figure out solo first.

What kind of businesses do you work with?

Business owners and solopreneurs, across pretty much any industry: coaches, photographers, therapists, consultants, creatives, health practitioners, you name it.

The common thread isn't the industry, it's you: you run your own show and you've got a WordPress website that frustrates you. I work directly with the decision-maker, which means no relaying messages through three other people, just you and me, sorting it out.

Why does my WordPress website keep having problems?

Usually it's one of three things: nobody's kept it updated, it was never set up with proper security and backups in the first place, or your previous developer vanished without handing over access or documentation.

Sound familiar? All three are completely fixable, and none of them are your fault. You weren't trained on your website. How could you have known?

My website has an error message. Is it serious?

It depends on the error, but step one is always the same: don't panic, and please don't start clicking random buttons hoping one of them fixes it.

Some errors are minor annoyances. Others can take your whole site down if handled the wrong way. Book a WTF session and I'll tell you exactly what's going on and what needs to happen, in plain English, promise.

My previous web developer disappeared and I can't access my own website. Can you help?

Yes, and you are not the first person this has happened to, not by a long way.

Depending on where your site is hosted and what access you do have, there's usually a way back in. We'll work through it methodically, step by step, until you've got full ownership and access to everything that's rightfully yours. No more depending on someone else's login details.

Do I need to update WordPress regularly? What happens if I don't?

Yes, and this one genuinely matters more than most people realise.

WordPress, your plugins, and your theme all get updates for a reason: bug fixes, security patches, performance improvements. Skip them for months and you're leaving your site exposed to hackers, compatibility headaches, and slow decline. Is WordPress actually secure?

Yes, when it's set up properly and kept up to date.

Most hacked WordPress sites weren't compromised because WordPress is unsafe. They were compromised because of outdated plugins, weak passwords, or dodgy hosting. Get the setup and maintenance right, and your site can be genuinely secure. That's exactly the part I handle.

What's the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org?

WordPress.com is a hosted platform: someone else owns the building, and you're renting a space inside it, on their rules. WordPress.org is the self-hosted version: you own it, you control it, full stop.

I work exclusively with self-hosted WordPress.org sites. Not sure which one you've got? We can check that in about five minutes flat.

What is a WTF session, and what can we actually fix in 30 minutes?

WTF stands for WordPress Tweaks and Fixes, because that's the whole point of it.

It's a focused 30-minute session where we tackle specific problems: an error message, a broken page, a plugin conflict, whatever's been bugging you for weeks. You'll walk away with it fixed, and with a clear idea of what caused it in the first place. Sessions are $66, booked in advance.

What does a Strategic Website Review involve?

It's a 45-minute recorded Zoom session where I look at your website through your ideal client's eyes: the front end, the bit visitors actually see.

I'm hunting for gaps, friction points, confusing messaging, missing calls to action, anything quietly getting in the way of someone taking the next step with you. You get the recording plus clear, actionable feedback. Investment is $125.

What's included in a Stress Less Webcare Plan?

Monthly WordPress core, plugin and theme updates, regular backups, security monitoring, and uptime monitoring, so your site keeps running quietly in the background while you get on with your business.

It's the difference between owning a car and actually getting it serviced. Plans start from $99 a month: think of it as having a WordPress person on your team, minus the full-time salary.

What is a Website Makeover in a Day?

Pretty much exactly what it sounds like: we give your existing WordPress site a focused, thorough refresh in a single day.

It's ideal if your site is working fine but looking a bit tired, or there's a stack of smaller issues that all need attention at once. Investment is $725, and we agree on the scope together beforehand, so there are no surprises on the day.

Do you build websites from scratch?

Not any more. My focus now is fixing, maintaining, reviewing and improving existing WordPress websites, not building new ones.

Do you offer ongoing support after a WTF session or review?

Absolutely. Plenty of clients start with a single session and then move onto a Webcare Plan, or simply come back whenever something else pops up.

There's no obligation either way, I'm just here whenever you need me.

Working with me

Where are you based, and do you work with clients outside Australia?

I'm based in Australia, but I work with business owners all over the world. Wherever there's a WordPress website and a decent internet connection, we can work together. All sessions are held over Zoom, except for the free 15 minute sessions where you have a choice of the phone or Zoom.

How do I know if my website is actually working for my business?

Great question, and most business owners honestly don't know the answer.

Your website's job is to help people find you, understand what you do, and take the next step. If you're not sure it's doing any of that, a Strategic Website Review will give you a clear, honest picture. We'll look at it through your ideal client's eyes and find out exactly where it's falling short.

Will I understand what you're doing to my website?

Yes, always. Explaining things in plain English isn't optional for me, it's non-negotiable.

When you understand your own website, you're in control of your own business. That's where you should be. I'll always tell you what I'm doing, why I'm doing it, and what it actually means for you.

What if I need help with something between sessions?

If you're on a Webcare Plan, you've got a direct access to me for the smaller questions.

For anything bigger, we book in a WTF session. Either way, I aim to reply to every enquiry within 24 - 48 hours on business days.

How do I know if I'm ready to work with you?

If your WordPress website is causing you stress, confusion, or costing you opportunities, you're ready.

You don't need to have it all figured out first. That's my WordPress expertise. We'll work it out together.

What do I need to prepare before our first session?

Honestly, nothing major.

For a WTF session or a review, it helps to have your website login details on hand, and if you don't have them, that's completely fine too, just let me know.
